Recently I signed up for a free account in a web application, after seeing that some big companies were using it. After 48 hours, I still had no email with the password to access my account. I tried then to change and reset the password, but this didn't help. Free wasn't accessible.
I'm not going to use this website again. I associate it now with too much trouble, long waiting and lies. Other people might feel in a similar way. In this example, we see that even a sign in process could be a barrier for users or hurt a company unexpectedly. No matter how cool an app is, it must be accessible to be useful. Mistakes like that are no longer tolerable and they result in credibility loss, which has a fatal cost.
