Understanding color palette abbreviations

If you are frequently looking for color palettes, you may have experienced the trouble of trying to understand abbreviations like PiYG, PrGn or YlOrBr. These make us "think" and do not save the look at the documentation. How dark/light are the shades of the green/blue really? Which colors from the palette are suppressed by looking at the entire linear gradient?
